8000 kilometers in Australia, on a bicycle!

Anders Kjensli (29) and Lasse Erik Hansen (29) is going to push bike 8000 kilometers, halfway around this enormous island. Their employers gave them permission to go on this extraordinary crazy adventure. Starting in the south of Australia in Adelaide, they are going to bicycle all the way along the long east coast and finish in Darwin before the rain season kicks in the tropical northern parts of Australia.

With their bicycles as their only option of transportation, one tent, two sleeping bags, and a minimal amount of luggage, the two buddies is going to travel a distance that equals Oslo (Norway) – Texas (USA) in airline! 8000 kilometers in 4 months!

The crazy idea was born in august 2015, while watching Premier League with their homies. Anders brought a couple of beers out on the balcony and asked Lasse to join him. He looked out over the horizon of Oslo and then said “shall we bicycle around Australia? You know you are the only one I know that could say yes to this!!”
Lasse’s clear response was “you know I can’t say no”

For more than a year they have planned this trip. Anders’ mom always says that planning is half the job. Anders smiles and says: Well, it’s October 31st and the men have left for Australia, which means half the job is already done.

Winter is coming in Norway, but the boys have once again managed to escape and traded the dark cold winter with Australian summer, with temperatures that can reach 40+ Celsius. “Some days are going to be crazy hot, but we have lived in Australia before and know what to expect and love the heat” Lasse says. The boys mentions access to clean drinking water ass their biggest challenge. They assume the consumption must be 8-10 liters of water each day, and the bicycles have very limited storing possibilities.

The two travel buddies brings along all of their friends and family down under, through blogging and social medias. Www.awesomestralia.com will be updated regularly.
“We will update every day, as long as we have service and power. We have succeeded with a travel blog before and can’t wait to get started again” Lasse says.

Five years after their last long stay in Australia, the boys are back! Older, wiser and fatter!
