DAY 41

They say goodbye in the hall outside the apartment. It is a bit after 08:30 and hostess is heading to work. Anders and Lasse is back on the bikes. Their clothes are clean, the muscles restet and the waterbottles filled up. They are ready for the 3rd part of the journey, Sydney to Brisbane and Christmas.

They say “see you” and not goodbye. It’s not impossible Sydney will be visited again in the future.

For the second time they take a ferry. From Watson Bay to Manly. Then they have to cycle 30 km north to Palm Beach, with another ferry to Ettalong Beach. They do this so they don’t have to cycle insane detours. Anders brought at book he planned reading at the ferry. He read 3-4 pages before the trip almost was over. The boys actually felt the ferry trips could av lasted longer.

The boat trip was nice, almost like a mini holiday on todays route. The continue cycling towards The Entrance. Headwind, hills, traffic and an okey road shoulder is the conditions they cycle with. at 5:30 pm they arrive at a caravan park that is located close to the water. It has the best showers so far, a pleasure. Soon both Anders and Lasse can write a camping guide as they have seen so many caravan parks, front desks, camp kitchens and so many homemade solutions to different problems.

Monday night they eat at La Costa, garlic bread and carbonara. Lasse drinks Coca-Cola Zero and Anders normal Coca-Cola. Somebody is celebrating their 70th birthday and the restaurant is full and that is always a good sign.

In The Entrance they feed the pelicans every da at 3:30 pm a sign in the city center informs then. It is 150-200 pelicans divided on two sandbanks in the middle of Tuggerah Lake, right by the caravan park. In addition there is smaller groups along the beaches. The pelicans are lined up and dives with their head under water everytime they see food in the water. When a steam of smaller fish comes, the pelicans cooperates. Quite cool to watch. It is also very popular to fish here with 12 fishermen eagerly stands in the water for a long time.
