REDLIGHT
DAY 72
The day can summarized as really slow and the ready why is old familiar problems that keep coming back. Lasses backwheel is once again unsteady and brakes the speed for every round it takes. Anders cycles slowly 10 km at the time and waits for Lasse to make sure the bike don’t break down completely and leaves Lasse stranded in the wilderness. They just have to get to the next caravan park and then they can fix the problem there. As the have learnt by now this is way above their cycle knowledge.
Lasse texts the guy that last touched the bike and he immediately replies “I am leaving now”. For the second time on the trip a stranger gets in his car and drives more than 100 km to help the guys. Very necessary and truly amazing.
They boys managed to complete 105 km after all troubles and they have set up the tent. There is a small hope of a bit cooler temperatures and lower humidity tonight even though the temperature is 31 at 6:17 pm. The caravan is famous for (or at least have gotten good reviews on) their T-bone steaks. This they are going to test because the meal sounds like it suits the two cyclists.
PS! Anders and Lasse have invested in red lights to have on the back of their bikes. It’s for safety even though they don’t cycle in the dark. And another thing. Since they passed Rockhampton trucks and cars have suddenly started greeting, hunk and cheering for the boys again. It’s a sign of friendlier people and the boys could need that. Even the train that passed Anders honked.
