BEWARE
DAY 51
Anders gave the hippies at the caravan park the chance to prove they are decent honest people. They weren’t as he assumed. Their exclusive powerbank was charging in the laundry room with neither of the guys watching it. When he came to
Pick it up it was gone. He was about 70 % sure it would be stolen, but he wanted to give the human kind a chance out of pure desperation for a portable charger. These humans failed and another 200 dollars just blew out of the window. The same can also be said about the little faith had in his own generations backpackers.
At many caravan parks they have charges the powerbanks without notice, because it takes many hours to charge them. It hasn’t been a single problem, but that might be due to the fact that only old people have stayed at the caravan parks. On this caravan park in Byron Bay it was the opposite. Anders and Lasse prefers older people at the caravan parks 7 days a week, ahead of shabby backpackers from Sweden, France, Spain, Italy and Germany. Of the guys biggest fear is to be considered as backpackers, which is something by all means they are not. They are travelers.
They continue cycling north on the highway with a nice tailwind for a while. 16 km before Kingscliff they take a turn off the highway, and cycle on a charming little road for the last part. After many days on the highway it was good for both the mind and eyes to not having to focus and concentrate so much. The 60 km goes very fast and easy and they more or less put up their tent at the beach. For those who like beaches and oceans this is an unusually nice caravan park.
During today’s lunch Lasse spots a huge spider with and impressive spider web. Lasse wants to take a picture but didn’t really dare to get very close. He stands tripping an meter to two away with both of his hands trying to find a good but safe angle for the photo. The spider web is connected to a sign that says “beware of snakes”, the first time that have seen that sign. They are scouting for snakes while they eat their canned beans.
Tomorrow it’s finally Christmas, they just have to cruise in to Surfers Paradise, a short 45 km away.
