DAY 21

All jokes aside, Anders and Lasse have soon memorized all the tv commercials in Australia. Storm outside means resting day inside with tv, social medias, soft drinks, beers and pizza. Tv-shop is huge in Australia and the 15 minutes long commercial about the super vacuum cleaner the boys have seen at least 10 times. The boys laughs and discusses, while they are being sold to. Can this super awesome vacuum cleaner really be that good?? Can it really remove dog hairs from the carpet as easy as a squeegee removes water from a window? Probably not. But, it is fascinating and epic to look at this brainwashing the Australian people are exposed to. After 15 minutes you really want to by this vacuum cleaner, because it looks amazing – and it takes no storage place and you can keep it anywhere.

Anders and Lasse feels like they have been away for a long time, but the truth is that they have only been away for three weeks. They have conquered 1 out 5 cities and have an awful long way to go. The next target is Sydney, a city they have been to and seen before, but only at nighttime.

It is demanding cycling in and out of big cities (Adelaide/Melbourne), and weirdly enough Anders actually miss the almost deserted places with the long fields and hundreds of flies. They have got used to having 20-50 flies in their eyes, nose and mouth whenever they stop their bike for more than 30 seconds. The flies you get used to, but the mosquitoes are irritating. Luckily for Anders the mosquitoes likes Lasse better than Anders. The other day Lasse woke up with 20 bites and Anders didn’t understand his complaints because Anders himself had none.

The boys have one full resting day left and after that it is back in the bicycle. They have made a rough plan about where to celebrate Christmas and New Years. In order for that plan to be possible they have to cycle Melbourne-Canberra-Sydney in maximum 15 days. That is tough for two untrained souls but not impossible.

Monday evening in Melbourne was of the lazy kind. They opened a couple of bottles of cheap wine and poured it into the cups that was the wineglass option in this apartment. You guys in Norway must never forget how lucky you are to have “Vinmonopolet” (a store that sells alcohol). The idea of vinmonopolet is one of the best decisions in Norway ever, after the politicians decided that the oil belongs to the people and not businessmen or companies. Amen.

It was a storm in Melbourne yesterday, two young people died. Extreme amounts of pollen combined with wind led to 600 people going to the hospital in Melbourne with a feeling of being slowly choked. The emergency services got over 1900 phone calls during 3-4 hours yesterday. The boys were safe in their apartment.
